What Happens Without Action
If we can’t adequately fund our schools, we will have to close schools, increase class sizes, and lose talented teachers. The district has already made as many cuts as it can, there is nothing left to cut.
If a school parcel tax isn’t passed in 2026, the cuts would include:
-
School closures
-
TK transitioning to 1⁄2 day (down to 2 hrs)
-
0% annual raises for teachers
-
Losing teachers to districts paying $30,000+ more for similar position
-
Losing Intervention support for struggling students
-
Cutting Elective programs for middle school students
-
Cutting Counseling services
-
Losing Certificated PE teachers in elementary school
-
Takeover by the state aka receivership
People move here for our great schools, and that ends up creating thriving communities. If families stop moving here or move away to better school districts, our towns will feel it. San Anselmo's Live on the Avenue, Fairfax's Community Picnic and Winter Market, and other great community events are all beloved by our families. What would our community look like if families stop moving here?

The good news: Investments in public education increase home values
Research has shown that for every 1% increase in teacher pay, home values increase by 2%.
For every $1 spent in per-pupil funding, home values increase by $20.
Great schools mean a strong housing market, and the high property values here in San Anselmo and Fairfax are driven by our outstanding, award-winning schools. If our school quality declines, we will not be able to attract new families to our community, and we could see our home values tank and local businesses falter.
Funding public education is a good investment for our community.
